Alec Darbonne

Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A)
Supervised by Amanda Smith, LPC-S

Hi, I’m Alec (he/him). I believe therapy starts with feeling seen, heard, and accepted for who you are. I bring curiosity, acceptance, and authenticity into the room. Life doesn’t always fit neatly into the expectations we’re given, and sometimes the things that are supposed to work for us just… don’t. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, trying to make sense of yourself, navigating relationships, or finding your way through a difficult season, I want therapy to be a place where you can take a breath, be yourself, and figure out what comes next.

I work with kids, teens, and adults facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, ASD, grief/loss, and major life transitions. I know family relationships can be complicated, and finding your place within them isn’t always easy. I also know how frustrating it can be when school, work, or society seems to have a very specific idea of how you’re “supposed” to function. Sometimes it can feel like you’re swimming upstream just to keep up. I believe those experiences deserve to be understood rather than judged. My goal is to help you make sense of what you’re experiencing, recognize your strengths, and find ways of moving forward that actually fit you.

My work draws primarily from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), with training in the foundations of Play Therapy. Some sessions may involve building skills and finding practical next steps, while others may be about slowing down, processing what’s happening, or simply having someone sit with you in the hard stuff. We’ll work together to figure out what you need from therapy.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you walk through the door. You don’t have to know exactly what’s wrong or have the right words for it. You just have to be willing to start somewhere.

I practice under the supervision of Amanda Smith, LPC-S.
